UK among “least religious” countries

The UK is one of the least religious countries in the world, ranking six places from last on an international league table, ahead of Sweden and China.

The WIN/Gallup poll questioned the religious beliefs of 63,898 people from 65 countries across the globe, with 30% of Brits saying they were religious, 53% had no faith, while 13% said they were a convinced atheist and the remainder did not know how to define themselves.

The research discovered that the most religious regions are Africa and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) where 86% and 82% respectively of the people consider themselves to be religious.

Meanwhile the most religious of the countries surveyed is Thailand with 94% saying that they are religious and just 2% describing themselves as either not religious or convinced atheists.
